The Hill of Hearts Desire

The Hill of Hearts Desire
“The Hill of Heart’s Desire” takes its title from a rendering made by the artist who created the most enduring tarot deck, the “Rider-Waite” tarot. It depicts the complete landscape that is partially visible in the backdrop of the individual cards.
In this painting, the top half is a muted, earthy brown, symbolizing the physical world or the grounding force of reality. The neon pink signifies a sense of passion, love, or yearning—qualities associated with heart-centered desires. The deep purples in the lower half symbolize the unconscious or the mystical realms—places where intuition and dreams reside. The pink, bold against the darker hues, embodies a manifestation of desire from the mystical realm to the tangible.
The abstract forms and rich colors create a visual narrative of moving through both grounded reality and dreamlike states to reach one’s “heart’s desire,” echoing the themes of the Rider-Waite Tarot’s journey of personal fulfillment and spiritual discovery.
