In this series I worked in black and white so that I could push composition, texture, visual language and painting in a freer style, without the seductions of colour.

I learnt the beauty of grey in its various warm and cool tones, patterns, contrasts, soft veils of white and the chalky opaque. Most of all, I was able to paint with energy, intuition and allowing for a rawness. 

Rainbow Falls is a kind of deconstructed rainbow, the colour removed but the shapes and textures still in celebration of a magical, shimmering archway
