This abstract painting is a confection of rich purple, fondant pink, soft brown and a hint of tangerine orange. The composition is a mix of geometric shapes, imagery resembling ice-cream cones, numbers and textural forms.

Ice-cream often represents sweet indulgence and pleasure, evoking feelings of happiness and nostalgia. As a solid that is transforming into a liquid state, the ice-cream motif is also a symbol of reality transitioning into the fluid, imaginary realm during creativity and play.

The central geometric form is an abstracted homage to a Fondant Fancy cake. I often reference this cake, with its domed top, as a symbol of the imaginary state within the solid world in the same way that the domed top of some buildings is symbolic of the heavenly cranium.
