£175.00

Inspired by the novel, "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World", written by Haruki Murikami, this is an abstract composition of purple glazes, pink fluorescence and rich opaque browns. Varied shapes, textures, numbers, splatters, drips and layering reflect the two contrasting worlds in the novel: the chaotic, neon-lit Tokyo and the subdued, pastoral landscape of the End of the World.

In comparison to the more structured elements in the painting, the splatters, drips and glazes evoke a confused, dream-like quality, reflecting the protagonist's struggle to synthesize his experiences in both worlds.

Though "1122" can evoke themes of duality, balance, time, memory, or an intersection of fate, the numbers are an intuitive impulse inviting personal meaning.

Mixed media on cradled, wooden panel.

24.5 x 24.5 x 3.8 cms.
