As part of a series exploring toys, play and the imaginary, this painting is inspired by board games. The cylindrical, triangular and square forms may be reminiscent of the iconic pie-shape, wedge segments and square packaging of the Trivial Pursuit game.

Compact and tactile, the Trivial Pursuit’s box almost has the aesthetic of a keepsake chest, holding not just a game but precious memories within its structure.

In this composition, a central pink cylinder provides a focal point whilst the purple box, with a rich lustre built up over multiple glazes, is evocative of mystery and ritual that may be associated with certain forms of play.
